I only teach one subject so my weekly lesson plans are all about science! I make sure I do tons of labs with my kids every week.  Children have to actually DO science in order to understand science! If they just read about science from  a text book or watch me demonstrate an experiment, it does not have the same impact on them. When I was in grade school, my science class was "open up your textbooks and turn to page 50" and it was soooo boring for me! And I loved science! But I wanted to do the experiments, not just read about them. I wanted to help the teacher as she was demonstrating but we were not allowed to.  My entire science curriculum is based on the Hands-On model and I can honestly say I have 200 students who LOVE science class!
