What If You Had Animal Teeth?

I went to my daughter's school Book Fair recently and found the cutest book from Scholastic:

Have you read it?! It is filled with fun facts and the illustrations are adorable! I am going to use it for animal adaptation lessons, teeth lessons and animal classification lessons. I found a fantastic craftivity from the wonderfully sweet Ms. A over at Oceans of First Grade Fun:
Ms. A and her kids created the cutest faces of themselves with different animal teeth. They discussed the different teeth, chose the teeth that they would like to have and did a worksheet on why their selection would be the best teeth to have. These photos are from her fabulous blog Oceans of 1st Grade Fun, she has tons of fun ideas on her blog! It is one of my favs and she is just too sweet for words :)

How cute are those!! Ms. A has the patterns for 7 of the animals in the book right here and I did the remaining 4 for her:

Click here for the narwhal, tiger, camel and elephant patterns. I am also using the book for an animal classification activity, click here for a copy of the worksheets:

Can't wait to read this book to my first grade cuties and follow up with the fun activities! I love using children's books (instead of boring text books) to introduce scientific concepts. If there are any children's books that you use for science, please share! I am always searching high & low to add to my collection!
